Step By Step Guide to perfectly Steamed Broccoli

Buy tender , fresh and young broccoli head from the supper market.

Store in the refrigerator compartment.

Wash under cold running water, just before you are ready to eat.

Cut the Broccoli head into florets (not too small).

Pour approximately 1 cup of water in the Instant pot Inner pot (1/2 cup is also good enough).

Use a steamer insert, basket or the kind available on Amazon Steamer Basket.

Alternatively you could use the Steamer basket provided with the Mealthy

Layer the washed florets of broccoli in the steamer basket.

Close the lid of the Instant pot and keep the Knob on sealing pressure position.

Pressure cook on High for ‘0’ minutes. Yes you heard me right ‘0’ minutes for crunchy tender broccoli.’ 1 ‘ minute for soft textured broccoli.

Release the pressure manually , for retaining the texture of the broccoli.

Turn the Knob to Venting for a quick release of pressure.

Once the Floating valve drops down .

Open the lid of the Instant pot and remove the florets from the Steamer basket insert.

HOW TO COOK BROCCOLI IN INSTANT POT WITHOUT STEAMER BASKET.
You can steam broccoli in Instant Pot pressure cooker with or without a steamer basket.I have used a steel steamer basket that comes along with the Instant Pot packing.
But if you don’t have a steamer basket, just put broccoli florets in the inner pot and 1/2 cup of water and follow the steps.But I recommend using steamer basket to get perfectly crunchy and tender broccoli.

Ingredients
- Broccoli Florets - washed and cut into florets- 1 -2 heads
- Water- 1 cup
- salt- 1/4 tsp
- pepper -1/4 (optional)
- Garlic - sautéd in olive oil (optional)
Instructions
- Wash and chop the broccoli into florets.Spread the florets in layer on the steamer basket.
- Add water into the instant pot insert.
- Place the trivet in the water in inner pot.
- Then place the steamer basket in the instant pot insert.
- Add the florets of broccoli to the steamer basket.
- Close the lid on the pot, and turn pressure valve to SEALING position.
- Set the pot to MANUAL/PRESSURE COOK (High Pressure).
- Set timer to 0 minute for crunchier tender broccoli
- OR Set timer to 1 minute for softer tender broccoli.
- When the instant pot beeps, Quick Release the pressure manually.Open the lid.
- Sprinkle some salt and black pepper and serve.
- Drizzle olive oil and garlic chives for added flavour.(optional)
