What kind Of Potato can we use for this Hasselback Potato?

If i may say so Myself, i have made these with Any potato . The Yukon Gold, the Russet, Red Potato, or even Small baby Potatoes. Any potato will do. There are a few tricks that will help you Slice these fancy Potatoes.

  • The First trick is to use a wooden Spoon. Place the potato in the Scoop of the wooden spoon. Start slicing through the potato. The sides of the spoon will prevent slicing of the Potato right through. The sliced potato will have almost a quarter inch left at the bottom (unsliced).

  •
  • The other most popular trick is using Chopsticks.Place the Potato on or between Two chopsticks. Again the wooden Chopsticks on the edges will prevent through and through slicing of the Potato.

  •
  •  One Simpler way if you do not want to use the above tricks is to slice straight down into the potato ball parking , stop just short of cutting all the way through. Make your slices as thick or as thin as you like — 1/4  or 1/8 of an inch . You might just not get even slicing , but its absolutely ok.

  •
  • Many E-commerce websites, like Amazon now sell the Hasselback Potato Slicing rack. It provides a guide to cutting the Potato. It is a durable product too.
